G20 - The Challenges and Opportunities of Advancing Global Cooperation in a Pandemic
On Thursday 12 November, the Bussola Institute held a special webinar entitled “Saudi Arabia’s G20 Presidency – The Challenges and Opportunities of Advancing Global Cooperation in a Pandemic” with Dr Al Rassi, Dr Al Hassan, Dr Krois and Dr Mahroum, with a special appearance of HE Ambassador Alarify.
As we approach the G20 Virtual Leaders’ Summit on 21-22 November 2020 under the Presidency of Saudi Arabia, the Bussola Institute searched to explore whether, in the face of an unprecedented worldwide pandemic, it has been possible for the Saudi G20 Presidency to make real progress towards achieving its goal of “Realising Opportunities of the 21st Century for All”.
How has the Saudi G20 Presidency’s ambitious programme to empower people, particularly women and youth, to live, work and thrive; to take concrete actions to safeguard the planet; and to adopt long-term strategies to use and share the benefits of innovation, found expression in the Kingdom itself? Have there been any benefits for the Gulf region as a whole? And how has the G20 Presidency impacted on relationships between the Gulf and Europe and the broader international community?
