In the framework of the “Tafahum - Security Roadmap for West Asia and the Arabian Peninsula" project of the Center for Applied Research in Partnership with the Orient (CARPO) and the Gulf Research Center Foundation (GRCF), Dr. Christian Koch participated and led the discussions in the working group the working group on “Regional Economic Development and Energy Issues” held in Tbilisi, Georgia.  The objective of the meeting was todiscuss relevant issues regarding economic development with economic practitioners such as incubators, social entrepreneurs, business persons, start-up initiatives, officials and semi-officials as well as academic researchers from the Arab Gulf and Iran. Issues discussed included social implications and repercussions of economic transformation on national identity, gender issues, generational relationships and a better transnational understanding for similar challenges and future concerns. The Tafahum project pursues the overall objective of developing a roadmap for regional security in West Asia and the Arabian Peninsula – a region that includes the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Iran, Iraq and Yemen.
