Dr. Christian Koch participated in a “Mediterranean Morning Breakfast Debate” on “How to contain Iran’s regional ambitions: Views from the US, Europe and Israel” organized and held at the German Marshall Fund of the United States in their Brussels office. Speakers included Michael Doran, Senior Fellow at the Hudson Institute in Washington DC, Emily Landau of the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) in Israel, and Azadeh Zamirirad, Deputy Head of the Middle East and Africa Division at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) in Berlin, Germany. The discussion focused on the different approaches of the United States and Europe when it comes to Iran’s regional policy in the Middle East and how greater transatlantic convergence between the two sides can be brought about in order to curtail Iranian ambitions. About 20 other participants representing the institutions and think tank community in Brussels contributed to the debate.
