Following today’s news of the violent attacks on the two mosques in New Zealand, the Bussola Institute extends its condolences and sympathy for the victims, their families and the wider communities of New Zealand and the Islamic world.

As an organisation that is active in promoting interfaith tolerance and understanding, the events in New Zealand earlier today only serve to underline the urgent need to address religious extremism and fanaticism in all corners of our world.

As a research institute, Bussola Institute will continue its efforts to explore the shared values that bind humankind, regardless of faith or religious persuasion. There is no place in our world for the kinds of religious ideology that encourage extremism, deepen religious divisions and sow the seeds of future schism.
